Installing new windows is a great way to improve energy efficiency and the overall look and feel of your home. However, there are a few things you’ll need to take care of before your window installation team arrives to replace your old window. Below are a few of the steps to take to make sure your home is prepared for the new window installation service.
- Remove any obstacles. The installation team will need easy access to the window area, so make sure there are no obstacles that could get in their way. This includes making sure there is a clear path for them to walk on their way into your home with the window as well as removing any furniture or window coverings like curtains and blinds from the area. Doing so will ensure the installation team won’t have to waste time trying to work around any obstacles.
- Take pets and children elsewhere. Your curious pets and children could get hurt while our team is at work. If you can, drop them off at a friend’s or family member’s house where they can stay until the installation is done. If this isn’t possible, make sure they are in a separate area of the home where they will be safe.
- Contact your alarm system company. If you have an alarm system in place, you may need to contact your servicer and let them know of the installation ahead of time. Depending on how your system functions, an alarm may go off as the existing window is being removed. Letting your alarm system company know that a window is being replaced will allow them to make any temporary changes to the system to ensure it doesn’t go off while people are at work.
